European Universities Initiative
EUPeace is one of the university alliances brought together by the transnational European Universities Initiative. Its member institutions are united by a common vision and long-term strategy, and the initiative aims to enable them to increase the mobility of students, staff, researchers and researchers. Member universities will also work together to develop excellence in science and research.
The European Commission's aim was to support at least 60 alliances of over 500 institutions, representing 10% of the European higher education sector. This target was surpassed in 2024 and there are now a total of 64 European University Alliances involving over 560 higher education institutions, including 12 Czech universities.
In addition, around 2200 entities from different subject areas and countries cooperate with the alliances as associate partnerss
In July 2023, the Alliance received financial support from the ERASMUS+ programme by decision of the European Commission to cover the costs associated with its operation. UWB regularly participates in joint meetings, workshops and discussions.
In November 2023, a four-year project coordinated by the UWB Project Centre was launched. The European Commission has allocated almost 14.4 million euros for the functioning of the alliance in this period, for UWB it is the amount of 851 thousand euros.
